Love costs more.
Imagine you had 12 children, six of them under five years old. One has Down Syndrome. Imagine you didn’t have a fixed income, but relied on donations from people out of the kindness of their hearts. Some months you may receive a good donation, some months nothing comes in. Imagine how you would feel on that month of want. How will you feed the children, pay the electricity bill, the rent? Now imagine you lived in a third world country, which means you have to rely on the generosity of international givers. This is Treasure House.
The child caregivers at Treasure House in Fiji are the surrogate parents for under-privileged children, orphaned through tragic circumstances such as domestic violence, poverty, and drug & alcohol or various other abuse.
Recently our director, Scott Fitzpatrick, and his family visited Treasure House to donate some money to help with the ongoing costs of running the house (see photos below). Providing these funds eases the burdens of the caregivers at Treasure House so that they can put more effort into nurturing the precious children they have been entrusted with.
At our request, they provided him with a list of the monthly costs they struggle with:
- Electricity $200
- Water $50
- Cooking gas $250
- Bus fuel $400
- Pharmacy $300
- Office rental $350
- Telecommunications $200
If you would like to make a donation to Treasure House to ease this burden, either one-off or a regular monthly, six monthly or yearly commitment, please contact Fitzpatricks Private Wealth on the details below.
